Lake Manyara
Lake Manyara
National Park consists of a large lake surrounded by extensive marshlands, hills
and the escarpments leading up to the Rift Valley wall. It filled with
distinctive vegetation due to its unique geological characteristics. The
hills support hardy acacia trees as well as the unearthly Baobab trees. The
extensive marshland attract a variety of birds including pelicans and flamingo.
During their main season, the flamingo turn the lake in to a seething mass of
pink. The park also boasts a number of free climbing lions, as well as the
bigger game of elephants and giraffes.
This park makes an excellent one or two
day stop on the way to the Serengeti or Ngorongoro Crater.
Accommodation is either in a lodge or in camp sites. The main camp site we use is pleasant facility just outside the park gate.
